I have a 98 neon sohc and I've had more bad times than good with it. I woke up one morning to go go work and my car wouldn't start, i came home like 7pm the night before and it was fine. my radio,wipers, and lights all still work. I would just like to to know what it could be before I take it to the shop cuz as I have been told the wrong thing so I'd have to pay more. I've already checked the fuses and they were fine. I got the car in July 06 so I don't know how old the battery or anything else on it is

 

take your battery to auto zone and have it tested. then guve everyone an update

 

well...being that this is kinda a vague description of the problem, the problem could be in a few places:
battery terminals dirty
battery doesnt have enough juice
bad ground
bad fuel pump
bad starter
broken timing belt
no spark
bad coil pack
bad cam sensor
bad crank sensor
bad plug wires
electrical short
im sure there are a few more things....but my point is that we need more info
does the car atleast crank???
do you hear the fuel pump prime???
does the starter engage at all???

 

it doesn't really crank it clicks and this may sound dumb but it sounds like its clicking in the back too. i didn't have any problems before.

 

Sounds like it could be the alternator or starter

Just go down to autozone and have all 3 looked at......battery, alternator, and starter.[8D] It wouldnt hurt.

 

i had this hapen to mewhen i was playing the radio for a day iwent to startit and it wouldn't startsoi recharged the battery and it was fine
