Well you can go to your local parts store and just get some adapters, and clamps, get a hacksaw, and cut the old one off and them clamp the new muffler up. Cheap, yes, will it work? Yes.

Never done it myself, when i did my exhaust 2 weeks ago, i took it to meineke along with the walker quiet flow and catco cat i ordered, they mounted, and welded all new pipes along with the parts i brought for 300. All from the end of the exhaust manifold to the back of the car, i am very satisfied, especially with some of the prices for exhaust work i have seen people posting on other forums, some people have payed up to 600 for work like that. 75 bucks at a muffler shop sounds about accurate also for just a muffler, and it should be welded, make sure they weld that ****.

If you have to ask how hard is it to weld, then you need to take it to a shop and pay the 75 because it would be apparent that you dont have the right equipment much less the skill required to do such a task.

Thats kinda like asking how to do anything. If you have the right tools and skills, then it's easy.

I would get a hacksaw and some clamps and swap the muffler on there. You make hangers from wire hangers.
