So I finally decided to paint my 80's poo-brown interior flat black. I have one problem though- I'm cheap as hell. Does anyone know if I can use regular flat black spray paint on the interior plastic or do I HAVE to get the $7-a-can Dupli-Color stuff? I'm only painting the hard plastic parts, no fabric or vinyl. I already went through one can tonight on just the center console & HVAC bezel. I really don't wanna have to spend another $30 on spray paint to do the whole car.
Stick with the duplicolor, advance has it for five bucks a can, if you use regular spray paint it will rub off and look like crap, its not really meant to be use for that.
make sure you clean the plastic peices really well. also use some adhesion promoter before you paint, then put the color down then clear coat it or else that paint will chip. I painted my interior over the winter, turned out nicely..
yeah I've been cleaning them with acetone & alcohol with good results. Clearcoat? won't that make it too shiny though? I'm trying for a matte look. I'd be interested to see pics of your interior.
Found out tonight that plain grey primer works awesomely for the parts I want to do grey. I decided to just try it on an inconspicuous area & found that it looks just as good as the expensive stuff.
actualy you can get the link to work by right clicking on it cutting it at the second http thing, but that does not help because its a google map of Minnesota but, the link does
work.
