Opinions on winter tires/sizes?
I'm from the frozen state of wisconsin, and my Uniroyal tigerpaws get great traction... On the wet/dry pavement... Snow sucks, royally, with theese tires.
I've got access to a (VERY CHEAP) pair of new winterforce tires, and can get them on stock steelies (which I have for my regular tires anyways)
Problem is, they're 175/65 r14... Stock is 185/65 R14...I punched that into a tire size calculator, and it will read about 2mph faster at 60mph...
Would the skinnier tires be worse in the snow then a 185 series wide tire?
Cost difference is about $40 for the stock size, and would be a general altimax from tirerack...
Any ideas?

I have two of them up front, and two new tread cheepies in the rear. It's snowing like crazy out (3-4 inches unplowed) and I've got exelent traction. The rear does NOT wash out unless I do it on purpose by zig-zaging. The front maintains exelent traction. I did an emergancy stop, and it stayed reasonably straight and any side step (if hardly any) was DEFINETLY controlable...
Good deals guys, just a heads up... Again, walmart will put the tires on your rims, but will NOT put that combo on the car.
