1st gen gauge cluster repair

If your gauges are not working properly try resoldering these connections.

ps. might wanna thank Texican for originally posting that pic.

while flowing those solder points does work most of the time, it wont work all of the time. sometimes theres some other connection points that are loose as well, and if you bend em just right, the cluster will work fine again. id of course, try to reflow those solder points shown in the pic above first.

How do you get to the circuit board?

If you take the cluster out, its right there on the back of the cluster.

I just bent the post. Close inspection shows cracks in the solder. It now works fine. Thanks for the heads up SlowAssNeon.

I've never soldered a circuit board and I'm on my second cluster. My fist one died on me and I bought one with a tach and now that one has started to die on me. I was dumb and threw my first one out instead of reading and seeing how to fix it. Do you just touch the solder gun to these 16 points of do I actually need to drip solder on them or make them connect together? I'm a little confused as once again I've never soldered on a circuit board and don't want to ruin anything!!

just hold the tip of the solder iron on the connections until it starts to change color :p

Not all 95's are equipped with the tach wire, but some are. Plug it in and see what happens. Don't forget to swap your odometer into the new cluster to keep your milage correct.
