Default Recommended code readers for Neon 1995?

Hi All,

I have been searching in the forum for any information about recommended Scanner/Code Readers for my 1995 Dodge neon (built in Toluca Mexico), without success...Can anyone suggest a code reader for Neon 1995 at good price (US$75.00 - US$150.00)?

I would like to buy a ¨Actron-CP9138S-Spanish-Model (Code data Number + Text Displayed on LCD Screen)¨ or a ¨EQUUS-3100c (Code data Number Displayed on LCD Screen)¨, So is there anything I should know before buying any one of these?
--------------------------------------------
According to Actron:
http://www.actron.com/media/categori...129_CP9130.pdf

¨All 1995 Neon plus 1995 Cirrus/Stratus with 2.0L or 2.4L engines are OBD II equipped. Beginning in 1996, all Chrysler vehicles implement OBD II. Actron SUPER AutoScanner Kit CP9150, SUPER
AutoScanner CP9145 and OBD II AutoScanner CP9135 are all OBD II compatible¨

I just want to know before buy my scanner..It is true that all Dodge Neon (1995 Built in Toluca Mexico) are OBD2 compatible??
--------------------------------------------
Can I connect my laptop to the OBD port to monitor everything...where can I get the correct cable?

Thanks in advance for helping me with these matters!!

Regards

Default RE: Recommended code readers for Neon 1995?

I have a US made, 1995 Neon and have used two different OBDII scanners on it both worked fine. The research I did prior to buying a scanner indicated that 1995 Neons are OBDII compatible, I did not find anything stating any exceptions for those made in Mexico. The current scanner I have is a Toptak TP-100 that I bought new on Ebay for about $65.00us.

As far as laptop adaptors, Google it, there are lots out there. Around $100 and up.
This is just one I ran across.

95's are OBDII compliant, just not fully compliant.

Thanks neisg1 for your fast reply!!

The Toptak TP-100 that you are using is OBDII ...

Problem is that apparently all 1995 Dodge Neon are OBD2 compatibles, but there
is some confusion if they are fully OBD2 or Not?

Is someone in the forum using Actron or any other OBDII scanners with Dodge Neon 1995?

I will greatly appreciatte any help, prior to buying my new scanner!!

Best Regards

Juanbosco

The other OBDII scanner that I have used on my 1995 was made by Equus but I don't recall the model,I think it was the Equus 3100 Innova .

Do you know what "not fully compliant" refers to?
I've never had any problems scanning with an OBDII scanner and several sites indicate they are compliant.

Hello again and thanks for all the help!!

Thanks das2123 for letting me know that 95's are OBDII (but not fully compliant) and that you are currently using an Actron CP9135 on 95's Neons!!!

Do you think that the CP9138S OBD II AutoScanner Spanish Version could work also?

----------------------------------------------------------------------

One more question...

Someone knows something about the 1995 Dodge neon built in Toluca Mexico??
Are they the same US made 1995 Neon - Do they use the same PCM??

Best Regards

If you dont need the scanner too often, look for an Autozone nearby where you live. They will lend you a scanner for free.
