1988 d150 body repair panels

I am restoring a 1988 d150 that I've had since new and it needs some panel replacements. I have purchased almost all I need from Rock Auto. What I still need are the lower rear quarter panel repair units for left and right that Sherman used to sell and were called tail lamp panels with part numbers 327-70L (left) and 327-70R (right). They are located at the bottom rear of the quarter panels. Unfortunately these are discontinued. I am hoping that someone out there just may know the whereabouts of one and/or the other that are no longer required. Frankd150

Summit and Jegs both have them http://www.summitracing.com/parts/shi-327-70l

Thanks for the input Dave. I've been on the phone to Jegs and Summit. They don't have inventory and just broker for Sherman; i.e., parts are shipped from Sherman and Sherman no longer makes them and has zero stock. There just has to be a few of these things lying around out there somewhere.

Hopfully LMC truck will have them when their new catalog comes out http://www.lmctruck.com/scripts/mgrq...K,-ADC&Make=DG

Thanks again Dave. I owe you. I didn't know about LMC and it didn't come up on my searches. There is hope there because in most of the other catalogs they have rear corner patch panels listed. Frank

I just hope it doedn't cost an arm and a leg buying from them.

LMC has always been pricy, they usually have nearly everything though.

I followed up on the relative costs at Rock Auto and LMC for one panel. The unit is the left quarter panel lower rear for a 1994 Ram 1500. Rock auto catalog list is $64 and LMC $60. These should both be for the long bed. If one can generalize from this single case then their costs should be similar. Since it is what I need for my truck I keep wondering if the 1500 panel can be easily adapted to the d150. Frank

I hope you can find the parts you need, but I wouldn't hold my breath for the LMC catalog.

They recently changed their "Coming Spring 2014" announcement on their website back to "Coming Soon" for the '72-'93 Dodge catalog.

This is not the first time this has happened. Apparently, they've been talking about this Dodge truck catalog for years now but we haven't seen one yet.

Well.... The LMC catalog is now out and it doesn't list the tail lamp panel so I guess those that need them (including myself) are scrooged. Anyway , here's what I did. The front part of the quarter panel behind the wheel arch is available, so I bought those and also the left and right repair skins for the back of the quarters for a '94 1500 which are also available. (source is Rockauto and they are probably Shermans)The 1500 skins are very similar to the d150 lower part of the tail lamp panel so I adapted them to fit the truck and it worked. I recommend that as a fix for the lower rear section of the d150 quarter panels. If you change both sides then even a discriminating will have a tough time to notice. One minor hiccup is that the d150 skin behind the wheel arch is 22 gauge and the 1500 skin is 19 gauge.
