Default interchangeable bellhousing

anyone know if the bellhousing from a 4spd behindan '84 318 will will match up to my4spd tranny off'81 slant 6.Basically looking to make sure I can use my existing 4spd from my slant 6 with the'84's 318 and bellhousing. I'd use the 84's tranny but it needs a rebuild and my 4spd is still good for another 50,000 miles.thanks ahead of time.

I believe they are different at the motor but the same at the tranny,so you can switch the bell housing from one to the other.

Because the truck I have had a swap from s6 to 318 before I got it, and I don't know what tranny it has, I asked the parts store what might be back there. They said it's hard to say because the list showed a trans that was available on both s6 and 318, so It was possible it could have either the original s6 tranny, or two others. What I'm getting at here is that according to the parts store, the trans from s6 engines bolt up to 318s.

cool thanks for info. I was figuring it would be the same tranny or tranny bolt pattern for the two this just makes my job a little easier.
