Default Can someone measure their dipstick?

I have a 1990 dodge w250 with a 360 in it, and it came without a dipstick I bought one of the generic 360 dipsticks but it doesn't touch oil when full, I found a 24 incher that also doesn't touch oil, I'm beginning to think there's something wrong here, I know the pan is full with 6 quarts of oil, so what do I do?

Oh, also the dipstick tube is the generic one as well, because that was missing too.

I had the same problem when I got a chrome dipstick and tube for my 318. What I did was measure the distance from the full mark to the bottom of the dip stick and I cut that much off the tube. Once I was able to get the oil level to register on the dip stick I was able to remove just enough more tube to make it read correctly.

Once you get the stick down in the oil a couple inches, change oil,put in 5 and start it to fill the filter, let it sit for an hour or so and mark the stick with a file. Add the other quart and mark the full.
