TB to Carb
How difficult would it be to replace a TB on a 1989 Ram w/ 318 to a carb? Any help would be great. Thanks!

It`s not too bad, I did it on my 88. You just need an aftermarket external fuel pump, a low pressure regulator, a carburetor, and an aftermarket ignition system. My harness was shot, so I just used a harness from an older truck, but to use your origional harness, you can use an MSD system or something like it. But it really isn`t that bad.

Thanks for the response. Do you happen to have a detailed write-up or anything?

you want him to write you a complete walkthru in 2 hours?
once you get al the parts, including the harness, remove the parts from your truck. then buy a chiltons for a carburetted year and use that to know where everything goes. if you go the aftermarket ignition route, which might be worth it for a little more mileage/power since your in there spending money anyhow, it will come with "a detailed write-up" |
I did mine over the course of 6 months because the truck wasn`t running, so I have lost track of alot of the little tricks I used. But you might contact lugnuts, he helped me out alot with mine.
