Need help please
I have a 1984 dodge d 150 truck, i will drive for about 8 to 10 miles and it will die, you can let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes and then it will crank back up and drive a few more miles, we have tried replacing fuel filter, and coil, and neith one helped?
It has a 318 with a 2barrell carb |
no ones got any help for me?
How does it run otherwise and is it by any chance over heating or running hot and if it stalls exactly how does it, like does it sputter right before or just die all of a sudden
It start right up just like it alwaus has and runs fine for about 10 miles or so, and then just dies all of a sudden, no sputtering. no missing or popping or anything like that.
And what about the tempature?, is it hot whenever it stalls, or is it warm, or is it still pretty cold
it is warm but not overheating.
sounds to me like something screwy with the carb float
Does it have the lean burn system on it? That's exactly what my 87 5th ave. did. A mopar performance ignition fixed it.
You might want to take a lok at the ignition box if it doesn't have lean burn as well, I've had a couple other vehicles do about the same thing and it turned out once the ignition box started warming up it had a direct short in it.
