Default Engine miss at higher rpm and road speed

Hi all, wonder if anyone has any good trouble shooting help:

1992 W150 w/318 (5.2l) 180,000 mi. will miss and stutter at 60-75 mph and seems to run a little better when its really colder outside. It purrs like a kitten at idle and also runs great at all lower speeds.

Here is what I already did:
New timing chain and sprockets
new plugs
new plug wires
new distributer cap
new rotor
cleaned EGR
new PCV
checkd/replaced all vac lines/hoses
repeated use of Lucas oil and Fuel Injection additives
Had the tranny lock-up solenoid checked, all tranny is okay
Codes all checked out on the OBD

So I suspect a bad fuel injector, or maybe a bad throttle position sensor.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you are on the right track. Is it TBI or MPFI as 92 was the transition year? You can check the TPS with a multi meter. When it is missing and you stomp on it does it perform or continue to miss? If it continues to miss the TPS is probably not the problem. Inadequate fuel supply could also cause this. When was your fuel filter last changed?

Default You hit on something I forgot to mention.

It is MFPI...I will go check the TPS with a meter.

You hit on something I forgot to mention. It does fire perfect and performs well when I add a little gas or decelerate either one. It is when I try to stay steady at highway speeds she bumps like a bronco.
I went and bought a fuel filter and will install it in an hour or so.

Thanks!

$9 and 30 minutes, and the filter is done. I only wish the fuel filter was the problem. A long test drive this morning on the way to work revealed the problem is still there.

I remember what my dad always said. Cars are simple, the 3F's: Fuel, Fire and Function, in that order.

I'll test the TPS tonight.

Thanks!

Brent
