So long as they are the same style. (both extended cabs, for example) You will have to make some changes for the t-case shifter though. It *might* be a panel that just bolts in, but, more likely, you will have to cut some holes.
"W" or "D" only represented what the drive was 2 wheel or 4 wheel. Not sure about the later ones but my 78 when i replaced the floor pans they where different if i remember correctly.
A 2wd auto std cab has a different (lower height) trans tunnel than the rest. On my 84-93 trucks, the tunnel is part of the floor stamping - not removable. It is an area that could be cut out of one cab and spliced into another. A body lift might make it work too.
