I have a 1985 D150 with a bumper mounted tow ball. I am trying to rent a trailer for a move and I need to know the weight rating for the rear bumper (stock). All the stickers that would have that info are long gone. Also do NOT have the original owners manual. HELP!!!!!

 

I have an 89, however I would assume all papework is about the same. I have all paperwork that came with my truck new, and can find no direct reference to pulling a trailer on the bumper, however on pg 61 it does state that towing of light trailers (2k lbs or less) is allowable, if towing more there is a list of things they say you should have (8cyl, axle ratio and so on)

It does say max trailer wait for a d150 is 4k lbs w/ 318 and 6.5k lbs w/ 360

the bumper on my 91 says 5000# 500#tongue weight and my 81 says nothing so i would assume it is similar but the bumper sits too high to use it. if you do haul trailer try not to exceed your gvwr. if you have anything heavy keep it to the front of your bed and try to keep lighter things towards the tailgate.
