Multiple Dash Lights Not Working
I have a 1982 Dodge Ram D350. It is new to me this past week. The only lights on in the dash are the oil can light, seatbelt light and the emergency brake, when it is on. I have replaced the bulbs and fuses, and this did not help. Any thoughts? Also, not an electrical issue, the speedometer bounces all over the place. I assume the cable needs to be replaced.

did you try turning the light switch with the lights on?
|
Yes, I have tried with the head lights on, and the knob turned, there is no difference. All the exterior lights work. Just most in the dash don't work.
|
have you checked for power at the the fuses?
|
Speedo bounce is almost always a broken cable.
|
Thanks! I did not check the power to the fuzes. I am not sure how, I have a meter, but have only mastered the easy stuff. I will be taking it to an auto electrician tomorrow if I don't figure it out.
I ordered a speedometer cable and will pick it up at Advanced Auto tomorrow. Next will be tackling the fuel leaking around the carburator.... |
Bouncing Speedo could be the speed sensor too.

i am guessing you may have a bad wire between the light switch and lights. |
Could be the light switch too.

Thanks! Still working on solving the issues.
