Will 6" lift on 35's fit in 7ft garage?
Hey guys, I wana lift my 86 gasser but I want it to still fit in the garage. I'd like a 6" lift on 35's but I been told that wont clear. Which doesnt make sense considering w/ new springs and 50% 31's I have 9 1/2" from the cab center to my 7' garage frame. Thats to the frame not door, the door hangs 1.5" but can prop past the frame.
Anyway, if my math is right, 35's would raise the truck 2" inches for a total of 8" with 1 1/2" to spare. Now could you guys tell me if you clear, and if not buy how much, also measure your garage frame? Even you guys with 4" lift on 33's can reply with clearance measurements if you would. Thanks |
if it don't fit you could let a bit of air out of the tires. my dad use to do that to get his van into one body shop he worked at. it happened to sit higher than the average van.

My 92 only has like a 4 inch lift i beleive and i could easily fit 35's

And if you trust your math, then who cares what the other guy says? Probably just flapping his lip. |
I have a 4in and 35'' tires. I barly fit in my garage at home. My antennas hits (not a big deal) and my clearance lights are roughly 1 1/2'' to 2'' from hitting the bottom of the garage door. My driveway however is on a steep hill and I think if I back it, Ill have slightly more clearance but Im glad I didnt get a 6'' for this very reason.
As for commercial parking garages, i dont know. I have not driven in one yet |

+1 on that. Many run 35's with only 4" of lift.

Btw, if you have a dbl door and your measuring w/ the truck in the center make sure your garage roof/frame isnt sagging and throwing the measurement off. 1" sag is hard to visually see and 1" could make or brake me situation. My truck is a vandal magnet w/ fresh paint/ tinted windows/ alpine head unit/ fiberglass R/T hood/ ect. I've never had a problem but thats cuz its sat in a garage. Naturally of course lift and tires will make it even more high profile.
So I appreciate the help guys. |

No commercial just 7ft. How tall exactly is your frame and are you measuring to the door? Cuz doors can be propped up another 1.5". What are service lights btw? Could you do me a favor and precisely measure to the center of the cab not guess? Cuz "roughly" 1.5"-2" from the lights to door could be 2.5"-4" from cab to frame. I'm surprised you dont rub w/ 35's, how hard do you wheel? What kind of lift/tires and wheel width/backspace do you have? I was told at RCC that only mall crawlers can run 35's. Once you start flexing and turning you'll rub bad.
Thanks I dont rub although with some hardcore off-roading porbably so. Its daily driver use for me with fun and some mud now and then nothing too serious. My fenders are also trimmed somewhat which may be the main reason I dont rub but I think ever if they werent a 4'' would be fine but even the slightest off roading would bump. No spacers and not sure the backspace for the wheels. I run BFG AT. As your last comment mentioned, they arent exactly 35" closer to 34" |
No one else has a lifted 1st gen? I find that hard to believe...
