ya. i forgot to mention that i think the actual name of the parts it Distributor Pickup Coil. if you go to the store looking for a hall effect sensor they may not find it.

Good to know I don't have to buy the whole dizzy for it! thanks, and I hope that is it. I hate these intermittent problems! Any way to test that bit?

BTW, the part I linked to is $20.79 at Rockauto. Standard Motor Products too.

i have no clue if there is any way to really test them. just the symtoms seem to be correct to the sensor failing. i know SixGun was having very similar if not the exact same issue after he swapped the v8 into his truck. after swapping many parts he replaced the hall effect sensor and problems went away.

yeah, plus, there isn't anything wrong with replacing one that has 130K on it anyway. Cheap insurance. Plus it is not that expensive.

yeah cool! I will order one Friday. Good thing the truck isn't my DD anyway, the Focus SVT is and it has a warranty!
