Default Speedometer problem

Hi I have a 1993 power ram w150 with the 318 and the auto transmission and it runs great but a problem I have been having is with the speedometer what happens is for the first 5 or 10 miles the speedometer works fine and reads accurate but after a few miles it will just cut out and drop to 0 and it also stops logging miles when it cuts out and it will stay like this until you shut off the truck let it cool down. This happens every time I drive it so far to try to fix it I have replaces the vehicle speed sensor and that made no difference whatsoever. So any help would be approached thanks you. Ps all the other gauges work without incident its just the speedometer.

Have you checked the connections that go to the speedometer?
