Default Transmission R & R

1987 Ram 150, 318 auto trans
Does the exhaust system need to be removed for clearance when taking out the transmission? Looks to me like the crossover pipe and the heat shield will be in the way of pulling the trans far enough back.

Chilton's says "On some models..."

on our 89 W250 as well as our 89 D350 the answer is yes, we had to remove the exhaust to remove the 727 trans.
