Engine swap

Engine swap
So it's been almost 9 months and I still can't find a good 360 Magnum. Lots of big blocks, but they need rebuilding. Also found a few v10 magnums....... Is stuffing a v10 in these first gen rams like stuffing a big block in it?? Or are they too long to fit between the firewall and radiator support?? Wiring harness would be a real pita. As there is no carb intake, nor a place for a dizzy.... So I would have a huge wiring nightmare. If i found a donor truck, i would take the wiring harness on both sides of the firewall engine bay, and interior harness. And the trans as well, get a driveshaft made. I think I'll just keep looking for a 360 Magnum, way cheaper. Too many ideas.

Where ya at? I have a 360 hanging on the engine stand..... It's been there for a while though, (inside the garage) still, I would probably go thru it before installing it. I'll let it go cheap, but, you have to come and get it. (the engine was pulled in favor of a lower mileage engine attached to the trans that was going in to replace the dead one...... I have a trans core as well. 46RE)

a v10 would fit with plenty of room to spare. the swap has been done a few times but i don't know what would be required to bolt a v10 magnum in. if it was a viper v10 out of a viper all you got to do is built stand to lift the drivers side motor mount but otherwise the engine literally bolts to the frame.

i have found them, but they are still in the truck with 200,000+ miles on them, for $500. And I have to pull it, not happening. I live in SC, cars don't rot like up north. So the engine dies before the frame or body rots out. I won't mind rebuilding it, but I'm not buying a motor at $500 that needs rebuilding. Maybe a couple hundred. Wished I'd asked about the v10 before. Somebody near me was parting out a 94 viper. I could have gotten the engine, trans, and wiring harness.

It absolutely would be lol. A 91 d150 short bed with 500 hp and a 6 speed manual. Truck only weighs 3,800lbs. With the stock 318. Drove it on the scales at work. My 05 2500 weighs 6,800lbs. It's 4 wheel drive though, with the 5.7 and a 5 speed manual.

had i had the money at the time i would have had a viper v10 in my 81. i saw one for sale and they were only asking $5k for motor/trans/harness. i thought it was a steel of a deal. unfortunately didn't have the cash. i think with how light these old trucks are it would make them either fun or dangerous. maybe 1 day i might get my hands on another to stick in my truck.
