Default 1988 Engine

New here. Just bought a 1988 Ram stock. Looking to replace the motor. What's the most power I can put in there without having to completely change everything?

360 (5.9) will bolt right in. You want a 92 or older version though, (LA block, not the magnum engine.)

You would need to replace the trans then as well. If it's carbed, electrical will probably be about the same, perhaps just a bit further away for some things. If it is fuel injected, that would be a major change......

Haha. Thank you for the advice. Does anyone have a link for where I would buy the 360?

Not necessarily, You can put in a magnum but will have to mod a few things.
