Fuel pump eccentric

I’m swapping a 1991 318 engine into my 1986 which also had the 318 in it. The new engine ran a fuel pump in the tank mine ran the mechanical pump. Is it okay to just take the eccentric off of my engine and swap it onto the 91? If so anything I need to know about doing it?

Some blocks are not machined for an eccentric. I don't know about yours. However, what I would suggest is put an electric fuel pump near the tank. It will work just fine but needs to be close to the tank. The advantage to this set up is you can put a hidden toggle switch in the power line as an anti-theft device. I also hook them up to an ignition run setting so it only works when the ignition is on. You don't want it running when the ignition is off.

Look at where the fuel pump bolts to i suspect you will find a block off plate. Remove it add the eccentric and bolt on the fuel pump.
