Rear band won't torque
Replaced the rear servo in my truck, got out my torque wrench to set the adjustment but I can't seem to get it to go "tight"
72 inch pounds on the bolt basically brings it in so far I basically bottom out the bolt trying to get it to spec. At that point there is absolutely no play at all in the reverse lever so kind of concerned. I don't want to go through all this trouble just to undo it later. I understand I have to back it off 2 turns but it seems a bit excessive Any thoughts? |
Quick video I made of the situation at hand. 72 inch pounds backed off 2 turns. Transmissions still in vehicle |
From some reports, a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between the servo, and the rocker there, (for lack of a better term) is acceptable..... I suspect the root of the problem is the band is worn..... Some companies make 'slip-in' bands, so you don't have to disassemble the whole trans to change 'em.

Hmm, interesting. I guess I will have to re evaluate this tomorrow morning and see what happens.
I know the original problem to start this was a cracked piston / servo. I have pictures so maybe ill just try and match what was there before from my pictures. (How many threads are showing on bolt) Didn't know about the .25-.5 gap so ill check that too. Thanks HeyYou, it seems anytime I have a question you or Moparite are here to help. |
