I have a 1987 Dodge Dakota it has a 3.9 carburetor engine. New fuel filter new fuel pump starts then stops. This began by stalling out in the middle of the road for no reason whatsoever it’s somewhere between 35 and 45 mph progressively got worse had the curb cleaned and reset. The Dakota forum suggested I come here I’m looking for a ballast resistor they tell me it’s no longer available and I’m wondering if anybody in the ram section would know something on these issues. I remember my 1978 power wagon I had to replace resistor but I’m not sure what to do now the 87 is not available in the Dakota
That truck never had a ballast resistor. And if it did it won't cause the issue you are complaining about. It gets blamed for everything under the sun even when a vehicle don't even have one. Have you checked for spark when it dies?
