Gen 2 V8's would be Magnum motors.

Snippet from moparmusclemagazine:

Making the change to Magnum heads is a simple swap. All stock components can be used, however, Magnum engines oil the valvetrain through the pushrods as opposed to LA-style engines. Since all Magnum engines were equipped with factory hydraulic-roller camshafts, using the Magnum heads in conjunction with an LA block and a hydraulic flat tappet cam requires custom-length pushrods. Mopar performance sells a pushrod kit for this application (PN P5007477)

Did they change the bolt pattern at the heads for the exhaust manifolds? Or did that remain the same from 91-96?

92-96 would be as that would be factory with the Magnum engine. 1991 is the regular LA motor I believe. As for the exhaust manifolds? I'm not 100% but I believe they are the same.

I realize 92 was the first year for the Magnums. The headers I'm looking at, the last year listed they fit is 91. I wondered if it had to do with a bolt pattern, or port pattern change. My wording for that was poor. Should be 91 vs 96 bolt pattern. I wasn't certain how far back the gen I's 318's bolt/port pattern went.

I am getting ready to install a flat tappet rv cam in my 1988 5.2 engine that has the roller cam now. Im curious what I will have to do about the pushrods in my application. Essentialy Im losing the roller cam for an older cheaper design.
