2.5 won't start

My son has a 97 mid size dakota with a 2.5, he was going down the road
and the truck just stopped running . Has spark and is getting gas, looking
for ideas. Could it be the crank sensor , maybe timing gears. Hoping someone else has had the same probelm.

thanks

first, welcome.
second, not on a Dakota, but my friends jeep with that motor did just that. it was the crank position sensor. hopefully thats it. really not that hard to do.

not likely to be timing, id go with Crank position sensor like rt said

If it's the crank sensor there would be no spark, or there would be a faulty one where it would spark on the wrong times. I had one do that didn't run to well lol. Maybe some weird things. I would check it anyways but it's an expensive little sensor...

thats right...
but if it has both it should do something right?

oh varsis, im not sure i've ever heard of a 2.5 that ran well, my jeep had the same engine...ask jetnoise, it went ticktickticktick like my truck does hahaha

varsis Nov 27, 2008 12:30 PM
