4x4 won't shift question #2

I own a 2000 Dak 4x4, 4.7 ltr V8 with an automatic transmission.

Ok. On a recent previous post I asked what the proper procedure for engaging the 4x4 mode was for both high and low modes. After reading the answers to my post I have been engaging these modes properly.

I may be having a problem because only sometimes my 4x4 modes engage. I started noticing problems last winter, (which is when I use 4x4 mostly) and this winter it is getting worse.

I have to to go through the process of tryng to shift into my desired mode many times before it engages. Then I have to try many times before it comes out of the 4x4 mode.

What could be the problem/ waht should I check???

Thank you in advance.

Oh by the way, this forum helped me diagnose a TPS problem last year and the fix worked. Thanks again for helping.

I also thought it was just a pain with a transfer case shifter lol. But mine is electronic so I can't help sorry.

same, i have the dial (electronic) maybe try only shifting into at really slow speeds (even for 4wd HI), like around 5mph or so

try lubricating the linkages to see if that "aides with shifting" im not eliminating the possibility of an internal problem but with lubricated linkages should defiantly give you the upper hand.
