Default 5.9 and 46re in 97 v6 dakota. Tranny help

Allright I got the tranny and motor in. Truck RAN..... then when i shut it off it doesnt fire up no more. No more spark... But thats another problem. What I need to know is how do i set up the shift linkage. My v6 ones dont work and I dont have anything from the 46re... i threw them out before i could think about it. So my question is what do i need to get so i can get this beast to shift.
Thanks

Can someone please help me. If you have a r/t dakota can you tell me if linkage is only a cable or is there a mechanical part which bolts up to the steering column

there is a mechanical shifter link that you will need. my advice is to head to a junkyard and look for a 46re that has the linkage still intact. short of that, i would say head to your nearest tranny shop, and get them to find the part if you cant find it on your own.

i would think not just because they are different sized trucks, but i could be wrong, if you have it, why not try to make it work
