2000 Dakota question
I can't get a straight answer from anyone.
On a 6 cylinder is is possible to bypass the AC compressor pump with a serpentine belt for a non AC model? My compressor is crapping out and I need a quick fix until I can get it fixed. Will it have any adverse effect if I do? |
It may work. But the compressor may be in the way of the belt. Another option is get a AC bypass pulley. This is the one for magnum engines. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/cat...archText=34178
Just so you know the heater system uses the AC to dry the air. This makes defogging your windows much faster. |
should be able to do it, my buddy has a v6 and didnt have an AC, but then he added the compressor and didnt put a belt on it for awhile untill he got more parts
|
The belt for the non A/C V-6 is too short for some reason. The A/C pulley is not in the way. Unless some other parts store sells a belt specificly for the purpose of by-passing the A/C pulley then I guess we are S.O.L. I understand there might be a by-pass pulley kit but there. It is probably a new pulley and bracket so that it replaces the compressor and uses its mounting position. This way you use the same belt
