Reconstruction. Pics!!
Well I finally decided to go with the rancho shocks for my truck. Got them in and so far i have replaced 3 out of 4. The driver front shock bolt broke like a twig when trying to remove it. I about S#*^. Went to Lowes and got a grade 8 bolt and a nut. Had to drill out the old one. And if you know how the shock bolts to the lower control arm you know the a nut wont sit flush against the mount. So now I kinda want to replace the lower control arms. I haven't tried the passenger front yet, gonna try and put a torch to it and see if it comes out that way. If not then I guess its new control arms. Also in the precess of painting the truck. Havent decided on what wheels to go with yet. Will have pics up soon!!!!!

Stop at your friendly auto parts store and get a Dorman or Help shock mount repair kit. Much better than the grade 8 bolt thing and it's made to do what you need done.

The best thing you can do is use a penetrating oil, let it soak. Then use an impact...not brute force. Mine came out like butter...
This is an issue someone told me about before. I would say drill and heli-coil it. (maybe thats what the doorman kit does? |
I soaked them with pb a few weeks in advance but they're just froze. May look into those kits though.

BTW what Ranchos did you get?

I was originally gonna get rs5000's all around but the only ones they could order for the front was with a 3 in lift. So i went with rs5000 on the back and rsx17000 for the front.
|
Interesting. I got the 9000xls all around. They dont seem to fit in the front...did you get yours fixed and installed yet? I would like to see pics to see if they are similar to the 9000 in body size.
|

|
