Default Another Transmission Question...

K, well to the bottem line. My tranny Overheats and overflows in tough, low rpm offroad, in 4Low Locked and im getting some overflow... and it overflows right over my passenger side manifold, I got real lucky once but im thinking I wont be so lucky a 2nd time.

Is it possible from all the water that got into it before, Damaged the transmission? After I swamped my dak, i dropped the pan and changed the fluid/filters Several times. It seems the trans works Good, but not as it used too...

So i came to a conclusion, Would the transmission Overheat DUE to the 37's being locked all around Even if i didn't get water in the trans?.

OR,

is it because the water just crippled the tranny and i should invest in a new one.

Also, Is it possible to put a transmission Cooler on the dakota trannys?.

I swamped my truck a month or two before I put the SAS into it. So im kinda thinking Either the water destroyed the trans Or the trans just can't take the 37's and heats up waay to much.. thus thinking a trans cooler..Possible?

It only scares me when im off in the thick thick, deep mud or Steep steep hills. everywhere else im not worried, just when the trans is getting worked...Hard

where did you get your cooler too? im quite interested in buying that kit. seems essintial to the offroad type.

Im runnin 4:56 front and back. I think im going bigger in tires, possibility 38's or 39's when the iroks dissapear. I was already talking to guys runnin RCV shafts in their 44's and they put it threw hell so why not, the thing can fit up to 39's .

thanks for the info

sweet, i think im going to invest into one. Is it a hard installation? i've been reading about people who's added one who've already had one on their dakota. it doesn't seem that difficult

Its easy hardest part is figuring out where to mount it.

For offroading, I would look at a tranny cooler that has a built in fan just because if youre not going fast, air wont move past the cooler enough to make a decent difference. Jegs carries a bunch of them, and they are pretty cheap if you just get a universal one.
