Well i just finished mine. Heh it dont look near as professional as this one but it works. Cost me $65 in steel and about $45 in miscellaneous stuff. I am a novice welder but had an overseer that knows his stuff. I want to add another bar across the top of the winch that is removable.

Here are some pics of the build.
The rough measurements i used when purchasing the steel plate. It was all 1/4 plate and 2in square tubing Attachment 59310 Front bumper removed Attachment 59311 Frame extensions Attachment 59312 Frame extensions mounted up. Now i think loafer mounted his frame extensions inside the frame but i mounted mine outside the frame on the inside if that makes sense Attachment 59313 All the pieces cut out Attachment 59314 Starting to come together. I did some more grinding on the side pieces so they wouldnt look so much like a shark fin lol Attachment 59315 Prepaint Attachment 59316 Mounted up with Smittybilt 8k. I will be adding a round bar for looks above the winch that will be removable and probably some shackles or similiar. Notice mine is a bit more narrow than loafers. Dont hate on it too much as i said im a novice welder and fabricator. This was my first project. Attachment 59317 |
I know that last pic makes it look like you can see the frame extensions from the front but you cant. Sorry for the crappy phone pics.

Practice makes perfect. Heck I'm still learning too. Now go find someone to test out the winch on, post up videos. |

Looks pretty good to me!!!
Hit up a Tractor Supply for the D-rings, they have some really great prices and stock them up to 20,000 lb. capacity. I just picked up a half dozen of them for various uses. Two are gonna be tie downs on my trailer for the ATV, two are going on the Jeep and the big, honkin' weldable ones are going to go on my winch mount. I think I spent $22 total... Attachment 59303 |

If I spent that much time I would have to be building a full off road bumper lol. I had mine setup this way. I've never actually had to use the winch lol Nice thing is it takes me 5 min to unlock it and remove it that way its not always out in the weather

Yeah i thought about the receiver mount but in the front the clearance was pretty low and i wanted a little more protection. I use my winch for various things and especially during hunting season. I also thought about building a full offroad bumper but the funds didnt allow and it just wasnt necessary i guess. Nice truck BTW
