Default Dakota ECU/PCM issue

Hey all, I have a 97 Dakota 318, I just replaced an engine in, and the thing ran for about a day and quit... alsong with it, the fuel ga. shows E, when it's actually full (checked and re-checked 10 times) - pulling a spark plug wire revealed it has no spark, won't fire. cranks, and nothing. - I just put a new ECM in it, and still... same problem, is there perhaps a "reset" feature or something similar?

thanks in advance for any help.

Is the ASD relay working? It should energize for 3 seconds when the key is turned on and also anytime the engine is cranking or running, if the relay itself is good, it could be a bad crank or cam sensor. The ASD relay powers the coil and injectors, among other things.

how would I know if the ASD relay is working?
also... there has to be some relevance with the fuel ga. all of a sudden not working?
thanks!

I swapped the relay in the fuse box with the A/C one and no change.... I'm in desperate need of this truck to get to work, but it's not looking good.

A meter and/or test light.

Start going over all the fuses.

OK, I've looked at all the fuses, I've swapped relays around, I cant find any bad relays or bad fuses...

the only things I know now, is I've tried two diff PCM's, and both ways.... doesnt work.

The troubling thing (to me) - is that the fuel gauge would be reading zero simultaneously with it not starting, it has no spark and I cant hear a fuel pump run when turn key on.

I really don't know what to do

UPDATE: - Troubleshooting and fix... done. - Problem WAS the Crankshaft Position Sensor, the wire going to it was pinched between the engine/transmission and shorted it out. and the symptom was no fuel, no spark & no gas gauge working. Put in new sensor, truck fired right up. Hope this helps someone else out sometime.
