Default 1998 Dakota 5.2 with 3 inch short stacks

ok so ive been thinking about actually putting stacks on my truck..and yea yea i know its a gasser and everyone always insists its just a cummins thing but i like the look and cant afford a bigger ride so i wanna try it on mine.. im thinking of going straight piped from the cat back do the y pipe under the bed so all you see up top is the 2 pipes.. im going with 3 inch 45 deg slash cut and only gonna let them peak over the cab.. my only question is will it affect my engine??? i dont wanna do this and have it blow up a week later cause there wasnt enough back pressure or something crazy like that ... any one have some input i would appreciate it ... i just need to know really how must can i do with this 318 before its been to much.. this is my first mopar and im not sure what there able to do ..

I dont see what the difference is if you run duals out the back or up through the bed. Its really up to you I think the look is a bit weird on a small truck though. I've only ever heard 1 gasser truck with stacks that sounded good and it was a ram 8.0 v10(sounded like a cummins kinda)

I think you're engine will be fine. However, you'll probably get a lot of sh*t for having stacks on a Dak lol especially since it's not a 4 or 6bt dak. But yeah those V10s can sound like a cummins if they're piped right.

I think it'll sound good, the 5.2's sound pretty good strait piped, stacks arent too different.

it wont sound bad or hurt the motor... It will look extremely out of place. Ive done a few stacks on daks down here in texas... go figure... Ive even done a few rangers... 4 inch looks not as bad if you ask me... I will say the difference is all the ones i put stacks on were way up in the air with 33 inch mud tires and full cage setups... it might look weird on a plain jane..

Only thing, gas or diesel, that looks good with stacks is an 18wheeler, or the Lil' Red Express. Pretty sure it's a waste, but that's just my opinion.

If you go fat, you will loose that back pressure, and most likely lose some power, possibly sound like ish too...

Here's what you do; take your truck, put straight pipes on...then, drive slowly, over a very steep hill, not so much a cliff...I mean, that would destroy your truck. then, when you're at like 75 degrees, run the truck and see what it sounds like...yes I'm being sarcastic, yes, I dont really expect this to happen, Im really just bored.
