Truck won't start
 

99 Dodge Dakota v6

Thursday night my truck wouldn't start got a jump and made it home. Friday morning the truck would not turn over. Got a ride to work and took the battery with me so I could get it tested. it took about 45 minutes to an hour to charge it so it could be tested and turned out to be bad. bought a new one and installed it this morning and now the truck turns over but wont start. If i rev it when it turns over for 30 seconds to a minute it will stay on

Do you mean it starts but won't stay running? That's "normal" for a Dodge after the battery dies. Start it and hold it at fast idle for a couple of minutes. Then drive it a little bit. After that, you should be fine.

1997 Dead 3.9 Dakota
 

My dakota died in the driveway. went to move it and all it does is crank over. it has 48lbs fuel pressure. i have spark at plugs. replaced the Crank postion sensor. still nothing. anybody got any clues? I'm lost. will the map sensor stop it from running? it is very cold here. 26 degrees. the last day it ran i was flushing out the radiator, refilled with good coolant because the old stuff was Dark army green. i just bought this truck and this is the first major problem. i will say that it was hard starting acouple of times and wouldn't idle until it warmed up.

i just went threw this myself last christmas,right when we got our first real cold day. the truck would crank over but not start. after replacing all the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, cam pos sensor, crank pos, coil. still no go. but i had gas, spark, and good battery.

however, if i pumped the gas, she would act like she wanted to start. so i just floored the gas and kept on the key. like you would do with an older car. the truck fired off. i haven't had a problem since. so the only thing i was able to come up with is water in the gas.

The cheap thing to try first is to get a bottle of heat and put it in your fuel tank just in case there is water in your fuel system. I had that happen a couple winters ago so now every winter I use it at least every other fill. The other thing that it might be is your IAC. I just had to replace mine because it went bad and the only way that I could get the truck to start was to hold the gas pedal down while starting it, then drive around the block.

what is the IAC?

It is the Idle Air Control, it is on the back side of your throttle body.
