Trans Problems

I need help with a problem I'm having with my new trans.
I have a 99 Dakota Club Cab 5.2 4x4. I just put a new 4speed automatic trans in over the weekend and it seems to have longer shift points. Would this be cause I had a towing package put in the trans? Or does the front band adjustment need to be adjusted correctly?
Also I have a bad O2 sensor , Would this make the engine run bad enough to cause the trans not to perform correctly? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

A bad O2 sensor can cause the engine to perform incorrectly. I do believe that it can make it feel as though the transmission is shifting incorrectly. I would definitely replace that and see how your truck runs from there. It wouldnt be a bad idea to have them look at your front band and check its alignment/adjustment AFTER you change out the o2 sensor. Just changing that sensor may fix the issue and you may not need any other adjustment made.

Good luck!

yes the o2 sensor can cause the the tranny shifting to change and set off codes I have had this happen you can disconnect o2 sensor reset the comp by disconecting the battery and go drive it

The signal from the tranny to ECU is routed though O2 sensor that is how it was explainedto me hope that helps

RE: Trans Problems

if the o2 sensor is bad, will this set off codes that arent the problem or unrelated, like P1756 govenor idle pressure, when its just the o2 sensor??
