Old trick but still works.

Was heading out to a job Sunday and the Check Gauges light came on. WTF

Everything looked OK then seen the temp was pegged.

Well spend the rest of the trip with HEATER WFO

With in 5 minutes of turning on the heat it dropped and with in 20 it was back down to acceptable level 210.

The entire 1.5 hr trip home had to have the heat on windows down and it was 85 to 90 outside. Talk about a hot foot.

Replaced T-Stat Monday and has been fine ever since.

Did that with an XJ in Idaho. Was in Hell's Canyon and the temp spiked. 4.0 liters run hot in XJ's as there's not much room under the hood compared to Wranglers. Heater trick got us home safe too.

did that on my car a few years ago when the water pump seized, got me the mile home without actually overheating

That is a great old time solution to the heating engine! Nice to see others familiar with how to get through it.

Yep, have done it on my truck a couple of times.

You know how good heater cores work for cooling an engine? One of my friends uses a heater core for a radiator on his roadster.
