Default LED/HID conversion options 9007

Searched but didnt come across anything by HID; LED or stuff like that or in the DIY thread..

Looking at ebay there seem to be a ton of HID and LED bulbs on the market most look cheap.

I dont want to swap out for projectors (though i want them) and would rather just upgrade bulbs in the housings i have as i love how they look..

Looking for input on legit bulbs or kits people have used and are not some cheap crap that will fail in a few months..

thanks!

We use the 7" LED truck lights at work, unfortunately they're 7" round. I've not seen a legit bulb yet.

Go for Sylvania ZXe halogens. They at least will hit the proper focal point for your housings.

HID and LED bulbs don't, so you're basically "hydraulic pressure relief"ing into the wind with them. Oh, it'll spray light out there, but it's like using a higher pressure water hose with no nozzle as opposed to the lower pressure hose with a GOOD nozzle. You won't get as wet, but it'll get that wasp nest off the 3rd floor window a LOT better *grins*

I guess what I'm really trying to do is get a little cleaner brighter* light from my head lights.. stock bulbs or what would equal the silverstar bulbs i got discount from Rock auto (forget the brand but they were good brand) these head lights seem to cast this shadow effect you can see in the light as your driving..

I'd really hate to waste money on ZXE's for just different color tint on the bulb.. that's why i was wondering about doing a HID upgrade or LED lights with out having to actually go projector bc i really like my head light style (I love the way the housing looks)...

And frankly upgrading to $50 bulbs that only have difference of tinting is not my style.. actual output will be the same just different temp unless your thinking the color range in the 5k they produce will help rid of the shadows.. or it will just be more visible?

I ran hid's in my dakota for 3 or 4 years. Never had a problem running them in the stock housings then I got clear housings and still never had a problem. I used the vvme brand. You can sometimes find them on ebay for a little better deal than their website.. http://www.mydepots.com/hid-headlights.

I also ran them in my ram for 2 years. In all those years had one bad ballast that was it and it was right after I got it. They sent out a replacement and had it in 3 days.
