Default P1740 Transmission Code

Sorry for the long explanation.

Posted this a few times already, Have a 2000, 3.9L, V6 Sport with automatic, standard cab edition with 109,000 miles. Have owned this truck for 2 years now. Purchased used with 89,000. Code came on a month later, and took to Dodge dealer and had transmission service, and A30 sensor replaced. Code came back on 400 miles later. Back to dealer and stall test was ok, they could not find reason for code, except said ground with PCM bad. Cost to replace PCM $1300, so I replaced with rebuild. Light was off for @400 miles and came back on. Has been on for almost 2 years now with no noticable shift problems.

2 weeks ago truck would not start, had towed to dealer, figured crank sensor or something else. Coil was problem, changed cap, wires and O2 sensor. They also changed the other transmission sensor A31 for the P1740 code. Light was off for 1 week, then returned. Drove it for 2 weeks and was going to clear code for inspection. Noticed engine light was off for 2 days, so had the inspection done and no code failure.

2 days after the inspection, the engine light is back on. P1740 code is showing when checking with key test. Any ideas other than having the transmission rebuilt as the dealer and various transmission shops want to do. Wonder if there is an engine ground or something with wiring that could be causing the light to keep coming on. Hate to spend $1800 for a rebuild to find relay or wiring problem behind dash.

Also note I get a small pop sound from behind dash when window defrost is running. Fan is on second mark. Sometimes hear it when fan is off. Dealer heard this when doing the stall test and scared them, LoL so they figured it was a ground problem with the wiring harness and PCM. Maybe better clearing code and trade it in.
