Front End Issues
 

I posted this a while ago before I had finished repairs/front end align hoping that would fix it.
It didn't, so far I've replaced upper lower ctrl arm bush, outer tie rods upper and lower ball joints, sway bar bushings, then a FE alignment. Inner tire rods seemd very tight and no play.
At 60 mph I start to get a pretty significant shimmy in the wheel. Below that speed and its really pretty stable. I'm questioning the balance on front tires or the whole rack now. Yesterday on way home I was noticing a slight drift in the wheel at about 55-60. like wheels were tracking back and forth ever so slightly. You really had to be tuned in to notice. The rack doesn't make any noise or obvious leaking but ever time I take off from a stop or come to a stop there is a what I describe as creaking sound/feeling in the wheel, like a click. Its really annoying.
Oh, also, when doing a full wheel turn, there does seem to be two tighter spots, just a little resistance in two spots.

I'd be looking at the intermediate shaft on the binding problem. It's very common, the u-joints don't last forever. It can also give a "loose" feeling in the wheel.

Get the tires balance checked, they can lose a weight. You could also swap the front/rear and see if the shimmy changes.

Thanks, There is no play with wheel in side the truck, just a consistant click/clicking/creak when braking and taking off

One more question, My calipers on hte fron seem to hav a lot of play in them, like side to side. Bolts are tight. You can grab the caliper and move it left to right more than I would think

I replaced the intermediate shaft and a Lot of the issue went away, thanks for the tip. The clicking and the general looseness/drift as well. I think I still lost wheel weights on the front tires because there is a shimmy at 60-70 mph.

For tires I highly recommend cooper discover at/3's. Very nice all terrain tread but surprising quiet on the interstate at any speed. They have the best warranty I've ever seen onna tire in almost Amy price range, 55k miles. Most are 40-50k or 5 years. These are just flat 55k.

235/75/15 run $140 per and 32x11.50x15 run about $165 in my area. With my at/3's the only time I use 4wd is if I wanna go faster then 35 when its really really bad out on the interstate. Other then that, I never need 4wd here in Ohio.

Tires
 

I'm not sure on the size, factory as you prob know is 245 70 16. They look small in the wheel well. Even the wife comented. I was thinking of going to 265 70 16 or maybe 265 75 16, which is 31.6 in diameter. Worried about rub.

I have ran firestone destination AT 265/70/16 on my truck for quite a while. Rubs only at full stuff. They wear well and as a 2WD with lunchbox locker, I've gone some places that 4x4's were scared to go.
