Fuel Injector Replacement
I have almost 220,000 on my 4.7. To best of my knowledge it has the factory OEM injectors (I haven't touched them since I bought it 5 years ago with 157,000) I always run sea foam or Lucas fuel injector cleaner every 6,000 miles.
My MPG has never been great with it being a 4x4, lifted, and running 10ply tires, but here lately it's been more crappy, like 10.5 - 11.8 depending on how many miles I'm towing with each tank (I also live at 1500 elevation in the mountains so I have alot of hill climbing) Anyway tune up is within 15,000 miles, running a K&N intake that I keep clean, and all other general preventive maintenance is always done to the truck, the O2 is within 20k. All my power seems to be there and all the sensors are reading good when I real time the readings off of them. So after all that rant does anyone think new 4 hole injectors will help? |
As for MPG you wouldn't see any but you may pick up a little power.
I installed them in my 2.5 but I also did extensive manifold porting as it was needed for the 4 hole injector. They say no modification needed but you do if you want any benefit. If your engine, intake manifold and heads were designed for a one hole injector your best bet is to stay with the same. I will say the 4 hole for your engine may differ from my experience no modification may be needed. But this still applies (your engine, intake manifold and heads were designed for a one hole injector) |
