2002 dodge dakota 4.7L spit and sputtering and loss of power

Is it overheating?
Possibly a rocker arm fell off. I'd expect it to run rough when cold as well though if one had.
Any lifter noise?
Maybe the throttle position sensor is bad or the throttle body is malfunctioning.
Major vacuum leak possibly. Take some carb cleaner or starting fluid and spray around manifold, brake booster hose, intake hoses and anywhere else where air can be drawn into the intake. Look for cracks in plastic parts and hoses.
I came across a scanner at Wal-Mart that can read all the modules in the vehicle. It's a rebranded Autel MaxiAP AP200 called the Hyper Tough HT200. $50. Bluethooth dongle. I'll give you way more info than regular OBDII.
