I have a 2000 dodge dakota 4.7l V8.I have checked under the hood for fuses and there is no fuse for the cruise control at either location. Is it a vacuum thing or bnb is it part if the computer
There isn't a fuse for it. The switches just modify a signal from the PCM, and send it right back. If the PCM isn't getting the hint to at least turn on the system via the switches, it's probably the clockspring, or, the switches themselves that are bad.
It's a 2 wire system. The switches in my wheel were on their way out, it would take 3 or 4 presses for them to do anything.
If a "rage click" doesn't get the light to illuminate on the dash, then I would think clockspring next. But even that's unlikely if horn works and you don't have an airbag light on. It really is a simple system.
The DRB3 scanner actually has a button tester screen for debugging this exact issue. I doubt the MT2500 or other scanners do, though.
It's a $5000 dealer-only tool that was produced from I think 93 to 04-ish. They can be had (as the complete kit) second hand for about $1,000-1,500 if you have an inside connection.
