New Member and a question

1st post, 1st question. I am a newbie here as you can see. I have an 03 Dakota RT that is completly stock other than the K & N intake. I am wanting to put a muffler on it that will give it a little better sound. I really dont care for a loud sound, but would like a low, deep rumble. Any suggestions? I am also open to any comments other Dakota owners may have. I have attached a few pics of my truck as well.

I've heard a lot of people recommend Flowmaster (IIRC, the 40 series is the most popular). Of course, you will soon get responses from people that have actual modified exhaust. :D

I went with Flowmaster and have been totally pleased. Gives the 5.2 a good growl but not disturbing at highway speeds at all. I have the 1 in, 2 out muffler to create duals from the flowmaster back. I get a really nice resonating sound from the exhaust around 70.

Did you go with 40 or 50 series? I have heard that the 40 has a higher pitch sound than the 50.

I went with the 50 series, which the shop recommended. They said the 40 definitely gave a more raspy sound and was more for street/strip performance vehicles. I ain't a kid anymore and the 50 turned out to be the best choice for me. For that cool looking RT you might want to go with the 40. Here's the webpage:

I have a 30 series on my Ram, dual 40 series on my 5.0, and I had a 70 series on my 4.7 Grand cherokee. The 70 series was definitely the quietest of the bunch, but it still sounded really good, especially sitting at idle. The 30 series is fairly loud, but nowhere near as loud as a 40. Of course if you're running cats they'll be muffled more.
