Service manuals

You can get Haynes. It is similar to Chilton's in price and material, it will run you $15 at most parts stores.

For $19.00 you can get a full service manual on-line at https://www.alldatadiy.com/index.html

OR get the paper Full book at any dealership parts stores for $80. I got 1, I love it. Or http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp?r

You can try www.ebay.com or www.craigslists.org for these as well

OR here are a few sites that have some good manual stuff.

www.autozone.com has an online repair guide and a specification page. Lots of info!

RE: Merry Christmas... 2001 fsm (for a short time)

someone pm'd me saying this needed a password, has anyone else had this problem?

last time I did this it didnt require one, that was back in Dec (hence the Merry Christmas...) and it did not require a password. if it does now, I did not notice it and I'll have to re-load it.

anyone?

RE: Merry Christmas... 2001 fsm (for a short time)

The password is "techauthority". (I know this because I downloaded this before in ZIP format or something, and it told me the password).
You can disable it from prompting you for a password by doing the following: Open the document. Click on File>Document Properties (or press CTRL+D). In the new box, select the "Security" tab. You will than see a thing that says "Password Security" in it ("Security Method"). When you press the box-thing, you have 4 options, select "No security" You will than get a box asking if your sure you want to remove security from the document. Select "OK." Than press "OK" to exit the "Document Properties" box.
Than click File>Save (or CTRL+S) to save changes. It will take Acrobat a while, but it will finish.
(FYI, I have Acrobat Pro, so I don't know how things are for just the reader).
There ya go.

lil 08-23-2006 05:49 AM

RE: Merry Christmas... 2001 fsm (for a short time)

Thx much for the password, and no the reader does not let you change security on a protected document.

It won't send me a registration reply email to my hotmail address even after countless times registering...Anyone else have that problem?

Thank you sir for the info! Working on a vehicle without a FSM is like using a Haynes with only visegrips after an allnighter at 3am with no flashlight and it's snowing. Don't ask me how I know this.

How similiar are the 2001 and 2003 models? Would this be accurate if you owned an 03?

RE: (fixed)Merry Christmas... 2001 fsm (for a short time)

And, the take down notice arrived in my inbox:
From: pjh8@chrysler.com
Subject: Chrysler LLC Copyrighted Parts Catalogs and Service Manuals
Body: Mr. Kowalski,

I am a Chrysler LLC investigator for Chrysler Brand Protection, and I'm writing regarding your listing of Chrysler parts catalogs and service manuals on http://www.jameskowalski.com/Dodge/Parts/index.html. The Chrysler parts catalogs and service manuals are copyrighted by Chrysler LLC. This copyrighted material is provided to authorized dealers and licensees through a paid subscription. I must ask that you remove the Chrysler parts catalogs and service manuals from any and all web-site listings you own as they do violate federal copyright laws. Please have them removed by March 19, 2008.

Thanking you for your understanding and cooperation.

Patrick Huntley
Chrysler Brand Protection

I will be replying to this email soon. I will find it lovely if they decide to respond to my email, but, as with any company, won't hold my breath.
Sorry guys, but I will be complying with the take-down, because, simply, mother Chrysler has the money to be able to do bad things.
I will accept PM requests for these files, however.

RE: (fixed)Merry Christmas... 2001 fsm (for a short time)

oh that sucks... it was good while it lasted though. thanks for hosting them.

RE: (fixed)Merry Christmas... 2001 fsm (for a short time)

Everything works again, unless Chrysler gets retarded again. Than I'll just have to send thema nice email explaning that I'm not causing them to lose market share, their poor MPG's and vehicles that require too much warranty work turns people away. ;)

To d/l the file in Firefox, I right-clicked the link, clicked on "Save Link As", and I was able to d/l the file that way.

any free links kicking around?

2002Dakota4.7L 03-05-2009 09:47 PM

See above link.

I downloaded the above mentioned .rar file. I don't have an extraction program on this computer. What program should I use. I tried extracting with bitzipper and it separated every chapter into its own file. I there any way to get it to open like the original link did with the table of contents in the .pdf. Can I use a free program or winzip? Or is there a way to merge all of the files to open the way the original did. I don't have the full adobe acrobat.

AFAIK its always gonna get seperated like that

Open 00AN_FR, thats the Table of Contents and just click on which chapter to go to..

Just joined and found this thread, its a godsend. Downloaded the PDF service manual for a/c condenser replacement. Thanks for the good post.

SpencerS 07-26-2010 06:11 PM

also to extract a .rar file the program i reccomend is WinRAR. Go to cnet.com or download.com(same site) and u can get the trial there. IT says it only last for 30 days but if you just keep closing the reminder you can keep using it. Ive had it for about 4 years now LOL

EricBing 12-10-2010 09:50 PM

would the 2000 dodge dakota FSM cover the 2002 as well?

EricBing 12-11-2010 07:34 PM

i use jzip (free download) http://www.jzip.com/ for these type of files downloaded and extracted to desktop no problems

There is a 2001 FSM here. 2001 is a key year because there were a few notable changes that year (e.g., the dash and change from mechanical to electronic shift transfer case). This one is a single-file PDF with a side menu for the entire FSM too, much nicer than the 45-file 2000 FSM that has side menus only for the particular file you are looking at.

EricBing 02-06-2011 10:37 PM

Thanx for this i have an 02 with electronic shift and this comes in real handy
