Default computer tuning

Hey guys a buddy of mine was talking about computer tuning and he said in order for an engine to really take advantage of mods the computer must be tuned as well. I called a shop in San Antonio and they were throwing numbers like 30-40 extra horse. Any responses????

HyperTech or Super Chips sell a tuner. They realy don't make that kind of HP or Torque. If you want those numbers you got to put some bucks under the hood and then do a custom flash.[&:]

30-40 seems like the high end. You could probably alter the factory tune to go for pure power instead of a compromise between power and emissions, but if you need to pass a sniffer good luck.

when you are using the programmer, it is changing the computer. the programmer will save a copy of your existing setup when you change any paramiters so you can always go back to the way you had it. as far as 30-40 hp? the only way you will realisticly see those kinds of gains by adding only the programmer is on forced induction and/or diesel.
