heating problem
[sm=helpout.gif] I have a problem with the heater, It seems as if it will only get warm when I am on the gas. I have replaced the thermostat with a 195 degree stat. was told this was the stock temp. The gauge is reading about 190 to 200 degrees. granted it has been pretty cold here but I do not remember this much of a fluxuation in the inside temp. any help is very much app. thanks

RE: heating problem
Ive had the exact same problem and ive read of others too. Im convinced its just poor heater core performance.

RE: heating problem
I have a friend that has a v6 and his is doing the same thing. I was just wandering if i was just missing something. Has anyone come up with anything to correct the problem. Was considering maybe a higher degree stat. or going to stealership to get another stat.

RE: heating problem
Just read the other thread on this and I flushed the system last summer so i know thats not the problem. the antifreeze was a little low I thought that could be from changing the stat, I will check that again tomarrow. Figured i would throw out everything i have done maybe, so maybe we could come up with a answer

RE: heating problem
Its poor heater performace. They are just made that way. The only thing you can do is buy another heatercore.

RE: heating problem
Try flushing the core itself, not the enitre system. When you flushed the entire system, you may have broken loose some debris which is now clogging up your heater sore. DO NOT install a t-stat above 195! You are asking for trouble for your motor. Not only will it not heat up your interior cab more, you will start burning oil and suffer an overall loss in performance and mpg.

RE: heating problem
Iwill have to try that next week .(going away this weekend) and i will keep you informed. If that doesnt fix it will be buying a new heater core. has anyone checked on how much one costs?

RE: heating problem
a new heatercore is around $150 and it's like $1000 to install one. you have to rip out the whole dash. or if your confident you can do it your self. it should take a weekend taking your time. I did mine and it wasnt that bad. I had to walk away from it acouple times. but I have to replace mine again soon. it will be alot easier this time.
just make sure the new one doesnt leak BEFORE you put it in[:@] |
