Default Hauling capacity?

Hi there, I have a 1998 Dakota Sport, V6, 3.7L, 4x2. I need to transport 2000 lbs of sand in the bed, does anyone know if this is within range of its load capacity?

I believe that the maximum payload for your truck would be something like 1400 pounds. Putting 2000 pounds in the bed would be way over the limit. If you have to do it with your truck, i'd suggest doing it with a trailer. Just my two cents

ihave a 2000 3.9 liter 4x4 and i had over 4000 lbs in the bed, only had to bring it a few miles. the bed sagged way down but it made it with out doing any damage, i wouldnt recomend doing it but the truck did hold it.

2000lbs seems like alot, but 4000lbs! what did you have in there that weighed that much?

I've had my 99 filled with gravel, probly guessing in around at 1500lbs and it sagged quite abit.

I've had 3500lbs in the back of my old F250 and it only sagged a lil bit. I coulnt imagine how a lil dak would feel. thats almost as much as they weigh.

I once had 3000 pounds or concrete cinder blocks in the bed of mine and yes it was squatting down but it was not touching the frame yet. I was quite pleased. I however do not do that often, it tears stuff up real fast.

I've hauled a ton of sand on a few occasions, it is the max payload. I don't like to
It was iffy but I got it home, after a nice hill out of the parking lot.
I did have a ton and a half with a small trailer, Never again
The biggest issue I had was the muffler scraped the d-shaft on bumps
here's pics

<edit>BTW: I have a 4-cyl
I do plan on helper springs this spring

I've towed close to 10,000lbs with mine. it was a 7,000lb truck on a 2500lb trailer. and it towed it pretty good. you could only really feel it taking off and on some hills.

but I put my 4 wheeler in the back all the time and you cant even feel it.
