Default Sticks in 4x4

98 Auto - shifts into 4wd OK but shifting back to the 2wd position does not disengage it. Only way to get back into 2wd is to back-up a few feet. Tried adjusting the linkage but no help. Any suggestions?

Hey DakotaMan, off topic but how do you like the duals in the stick shift v6? i was thinking about doing it but was worried there would be too much popping, plus i heard something about losing low end power? No idea if thats true. I went for the single FM 40, and i like the sound, but would be better with 2 i think. Thanks a lot

I know trucks with lockin hubs you have to reverse to get it out of 4x4. but the dak dont have them, so there must be something outta whack.

yours is a shifter on the floor right. its not a switch on the dash.

mine pops in and out real easy so theres no way its normal sothere has to be something wrong. its either inside your transfer case or the linkage somewhere. are all the parts matching for your truck?
