That's exactly what my 2000 had. Now obvious signs of coolant leaks, but would smell of coolant in the morings and would steam up a little too. Heater core was leaking. When you take out the dash, you will see the leaks. I had to get mine at the dealer only. All the other auto parts would give me the wrong one.

well picked the truck up from the shop this morning . all is back to normal no more coolant smell. and only cost me $550.00 bucks BLAH ![&:] my uncle said the heatercore had been leaking for a while it was cracked on the one tube where the hoses hook up and leaking onthe cores as well. The truck was would have been done monday but the part they got was bad and leaked so they had to tear the dash apart and start over . my uncle took it for a drive to make sure the heater / a/c was working properly and wouldnt leak when under pressure from driving . he said the only thing he said that migh tneed attention was the wipers as they wanna stop on the down ward wipe . bad ground maybe ? other then that my uncle said the truck is good and should last me a long time with regular maintance . so now i can go get my new toy in the form of a 1976 Vw beetle .
